I used AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing) to take a 3 shot burst with -1, 0, and +1 exposures. This one is the -1. The normally exposed and +1 don't look nearly as dramatic. For these dramatic landscapes, why not take a few more shots? You'll never know which exposure looks the best.
You are damm right with taking shots at different expsures. And this one definitely is very dramatic.

You know I'm not a fan of pitch black or blinding white areas in a picture. It could be a bit more exposed for my taste ( at least the buildings), but your B&W conversion and the composition is good. A dramatic landscape can still be achieved with a more normally exposed picture. I usually use -2/3.
Is this the picture you took when I took that picture of you?

this is beautiful shot Michael. the -1 exp really makes these clouds look ominous, and the rays of light and reflection stand out more too. lovely work.

Amazing, great picture. I love the light falling through the clouds and reflecting on the water. Very beautiful, I think I'd like a large print of it on my wall ...
