Chinatown, NY This is one of the lit streets of Chinatown. It's littered with small shops as people try to make a living. Very much unlike the Macy's at 34th that occupies the entire block! But even if a Walmart moved in and bought up the entire block, would the Chinatown folks shop in it? Or would they adhere to their community, support their friends' shops, and continue in their old ways?
Great shot. I like it.

One would hope that they would NOT shop in it - not that I have any great resentment of Walmart - but it's just a shame when small, character-filled districts such as this dry up because of sterile mega-stores. Nice shot by the way.

Nice shot. Good level of light at this time of night. Has a friendly feel to it.

Beautiful. I really like the city shots - they capture the different moods of the city so well. Great timing too since the mix of ambient and man-made light is gentle.

oh, good old, Pike Street. Great contrast between the foreground and the background of the large apartment buildings of Confucius Plaza.
I wouldnt think they would shop there, people are always looking for a discount and a one stop shop. Why go to 10 different tourist shops when you can go to one?

I love your Chinatown shots, and the stories you tell to go along with them.
